Richmond Ford has been in the business of Ford's for over 100 years, so when it comes to the 2018 lineup of Ford models we've got the info. Ford's iconic mustang is receiving a mid-model refresh for 2018. In this blog we go over what's changing and what you can expect in the new version from engines and the exterior to technology.

On the exterior of the 2018 mustang the successful S550 chassis will receive a facelift with a more athletic look from the front and rear with refined aerodynamics. LED front lights with signature lighting help set off the new front end and the taillights are revised for a more technical look.

For muscle, the Mustang loses it’s V6 for 2018 and now the 2.3L Ecoboost takes its place as the entry level pony car. The 5.0 V8 has been reworked and is now more powerful and revs higher than ever. The new 10 speed automatic makes its way to the Mustang providing better acceleration and higher average power with improved responsiveness and performance. The manual trans has also been upgraded for optimal torque with a twin-disc clutch and dual mass flywheel which delivers more efficient clutch modulation. To improve ride quality the mangneride damper technology adopted from the Shelby GT350 is a new option with the performance package to optimize handling in all situations.

The interior technology on the Mustang gets an upgrade with wan available first 12 inch all digital LCD screen in the dash. The driver can customize and personalize the displays for normal, sport, and track modes. This also gives them the ability to save their favorite drive, suspension and steering settings with the new MyMode. Even the engine note is customizable now with the optional active valve exhaust system.

Needless to say, this all new Mustang is going to define the new age of the pony car. We'll be stocking the 2018 ford Mustang at both of our dealerships, Richmond Ford Lincoln and Richmond Ford West, so be on the lookout for unloading and arrival videos when we get our first batch!
