The 2016 Ford Fusion and 2016 Chevy Cruze both feature turbocharged engines as powertrain options. Additionally, the Fusion offers a 231 horsepower engine as well as two hybrid models.

Only so much information has been released on the new Cruze, however, it will feature a standard 153 horsepower engine.

All Ford Fusion models are standard with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Chevy Cruze comes standard with a manual transmission.

The base engine on the 2016 Ford Fusion achieves an EPA-estimated 22 city and 34 highway mpg. Additionally, the top Fusion turbo engine provides 25 city and 37 highway mpg which is very impressive.

Chevrolet has stated that the 2016 Chevy Cruze can achieve 40 mpg on the highway, however, this certainly comes at a price. Less weight and a smaller interior allow for the additional miles, and that's not a sacrifice some people would want to make.

The Fusion offers a simplistic interior design with a limited use of dials and controls. Spacious seating for five allows for each passenger to be comfortable on their ride. Standard features include a rearview camera, Ford SYNC with Bluetooth, and the Ford MyKey system.

The Cruze does feature a customizable touchscreen with Chevrolet MyLink. The vehicle had previously featured narrow and uncomfortable seats and we're hoping to see those were changed for the 2016 model.

2016 Ford Fusion vs. 2016 Chevy Cruze

Deciding between these two sedans is certainly a tall task. Both include an incredible number of features right out of the gate and feature strong performances. However, the spacious cabin in the 2016 Ford Fusion seals the deal for us; a five seater demands midsize level space and comfort, and that's something the Fusion provides.
